Bob Rae as Leader of Federal Liberals???

Gee, I hope this story about Bob Rae as a possible successor to Paul Martin is true.

I can say without hesitation that Bob Rae has contributed as much to the formation of my political beliefs as any politician in Canadian history. His efforts to dismantle the economy, drive a wedge between various groups of Canadians, and spend us into oblivion put him at the top of the list of the most destructive elected officials of all time - just ahead of Pierre Trudeau.. and Mike Harcourt.. and Paul Martin.

Given another term, he would have turned Ontario into a "have not" province. Luckily, the Common Sense Revolution arrived just in time to save the day. :)

With him at the helm of the Liberals, they'd be finished in Ontario. People remember all too vividly the damage he inflicted upon us.
Perhaps I'll buy a Liberal membership, just so I can help to elect him as Liberal leader. There are only a few deluded moonbats who would even consider voting for Bob Rae.

In the worst case scenario, Rae gets elected and does a horrible job, causing Canadians to elect a Conservative government for the next decade just to clean up the mess, just like they did in Ontario.

Rae is so dispised in Ontario it just may deliver a majority to Harper - even without La Belle.

Really, what I should be saying is this:

I think Bob Rae would have a great shot. With Bob Rae as leader, the Federal Liberals would be unbeatable. Gee, I hope they don't elect Bob Rae.

(wink)

You don't really think Liberals are that crazy, do you? The problem is that Mercer is from NS and probably doesn't realize how unpopular the Rae government became in Ontario.

We're not that crazy. Throw Rae's name in the miz and I'm going to demand the return of Allan "Mr. Velcro" Rock.

The only New Democrat possibly worse than Rae is Lorne Nystrom.

Why do the Liberals consider failed NDP premiers to be "star" candidates? Life long NDPers are leaving the party, like Dosanjh and Chris Axworthy in Saskatchewan, because it's out-of-step with reality, especially with its current leader. Ujjal Dosanjh, who couldn't even be reelected in his own seat provincially, left the NDP to salvage his political career. As a British Columbian, I can tell you if he didn't run in such an immigrant rich riding, there's no chance he could have been elected. Most of us think he's a joke.
So I say, let Rae run for the Libs so they'll lose seats in Ontario.

I was somewhat surpised that Dosanjh got elected.

The interesting thing will be this:

Numerous people were attracted to the Libs by Paul Martin (ie: Scott Brison, David Emerson, Ujjal Dosanjh, Belinda Stronach, countless others).

What would happen to these people if someone like Bob Rae became the Prime Minister?

Will be very interesting to see what happens.

He turned BC from a "have" province into a "have not" province. The NDP premiers that followed in his footsteps continued the damage.

That, and Bingogate. Although to his credit, he resigned.

.. and the fact that he took job working for Paul Martin.
