A Funny Blast From The Past
When Belinda Stronach was running for the leadership of the Conservative Party, she issued this ironic press release:
Belinda, En Anglais, S'il Vous Plait, En Anglais.
"TORONTO, Feb. 28 (2004) /CNW/ - I am troubled to hear reports from Quebec
that members of our party are receiving calls from campaigns and the
party in English only. It is regrettable because this kind of
insensitivity compromises all of the inroads we have made into
Quebec. It is also regrettable because it will reinforce the unfair
prejudice that our party cannot appeal to all Canadians, particularly
east of Manitoba. Our new party must be inclusive and respectful of
all Canadians. I am devoted to building and uniting a truly national
Conservative Party. For further information: Belinda Stronach

Hahahahaha hilarious....what a twit
I wonder how her French lessons are going.
What a tool.
I think Stronach belongs to the school of thought that believes that people really want to pandered to, not understood or helped. So she calls herself a feminist today (while seriously undermining the gains of the women's movement), a single mother tomorrow (not very difficult to be one on her income), and in this amusing comment, claims to be defending Francophone rights. Harper, to his credit, went to Quebec and said, in French, how he plans to fulfil the aspirations of the Quebecois. Far more to the point, and, as it turns out, extremely successful.
I am not a huge Harper fan, but I hope that other politicians imitate him in this aspect, and more voters reward politicians who do so. Also, I hope the Liberals have the sense to get rid of Stronach.
Stronach is an embarrassment to real feminists.
Actually, I totally agree with you, TT.
Belinda lacks credibility...not only does she not speak French, but dropped out of York U after her first year...and yet she wants to be PM very badly. She is not a good role model for women.
She is a goof. A rich goof. But, a goof nonetheless. That she is taken seriously (apparently) by media and women's groups speaks to the superficiality of both.
